Breakdown For Feature Film - The Second Coming Of Mary

Audition Date(s): First auditions are Saturday, 07/05/08.  Call-backs week of July 7th.
Shoot/Start Date: Shooting starts mid September for 2-3 weeks.

Storyline:
This urban Gen Y story of female empowerment mixes modern science, love, and a dose of Dr. Strangelove's apocalyptic humor with a touch of Da Vinci Code conspiracy. Along the way, Mary gets pregnant with the second coming of Christ, bears its child, deals with the unsettling aftermath, breaks down, finds inner peace, and heralds a populist uprising.

Character Descriptions:
Mary:
Female, Latina, bilingual, early 20s/late teens, thin to average build. Mary is a fresh-faced and virginal church devotee. She has romantic flirtations with Joe and Paul Jr. There is brief non-sexual full nudity (a moment where Mary becomes the 'sacred feminine' mythos). This role requires a wide range given Mary's journey. Strong internalized and physical acting also required. PRINCIPAL LEAD.

Law of the Low Riders
Female (androgynous), 60s+, Latina.  The Law of the Low Riders is a mythological figure who appears to Mary in the desert.  She wears a white hooded sweatshirt, black sunglasses, gold chains, a Guadalupe t-shirt, and speaks in koans.  SUPPORTING.  1 day in desert.
