It sounds stupid but we all start somewhere.....any way to lower an '89 Lincoln Mark VII?

I'm Not sure about that year Lincoln, but A lot of those Linc's have a factory 'Air Ride' Suspension. If yours does , just release some Air until you hit the desired height

That only works on the rear.. But you could just save get sum 13" shave the calipers and that would give it a good stance.. Next save or use tax money to buy a hydro set-up or air ride kit to finish the job off.
