I'm looking at a car on ebay and I noticed that there is no "impala ss" emblem on the trunk and there seems to be no center ac vent on the dash. The vin number makes it out to be a 64 ss "41447C164359" however there was no plant designated with the letter "C" Can anyone please tell me if this is a real SS?

I THINK IT IS A SUPER SPORT. IT HAS THE CENTER CONCOLE AND BUCKET SEATS.. THE REGULAR MODEL HAD A BENCH SEAT. ALL THE SS EMBLEMS ARE THERE EXCEPT ON THE TRUNK. HE MY HAVE REPLACED IT DURING RESTORATION AND USED A NON SS TRUNK. AND THE SIDE TRIM IS THERE 2, THE SIDE TRIM ON THE SS AND THE NON SS ARE DIFFERENT. SO IM PRETTY DAMN SURE ITS AN SS, UNLESS HE DID MOTIFICATION TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE UN SS BUT I DOUBT IT... DOESNT LOOK LIKE THE CARS BEEN MOLESTED...

what about the dash where there is no center A/C vent? Is this common to only have the two circle vents at the end of each side of the dash?

i dunno i always thought that the a/c was a seperate accessory, but that center part could be missing ..... it looks convincing 2 me.. i dont really see why some one would invest money into a car trying 2 make it into a ss. im pretty convinced that its an ss, sorry i cant be more hlpful, but all the thing that an ss comes with 2 me are all there... the only thing i dont know if it has is the posi rear end... non ss impala dont come with that..

TOO BAD THE 64 SS DOESNT HAV ALL THE DOCUMENTATION FOR IT, IF IT DID U CAN TELL ALL THE ADD ON THAT IT WAS PURCHASED WITH.. CHEVROLET DID SOME WEIRD THING BACK IN THE DAY, ALOT OF IMPALA'S WERE SPECIAL ORDERED, AND MADE TO YOUR LIKING.... SOME NON SS IMPALA CAME WITH 409 ENGINES, SOME SS IMPALA CAME WITH A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE... CRAZY ASS IT SOUNDS ITS TRUE.. CHEVY BACK THEN WAS AL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER, NOW ITS ABOUT WHAT THEY GIVES US.. IF THAT CAR IS OR ISNT AN SS, IT STILL 2 ME A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOWTIE STANDS FOR...... THE MARK OF EXCELLENCE... ![]() ![]()
