Aight this is sort of in relation to pop trunks!!! i know how they work and i know how to put them on and make the damn thing happen!!! I'd love to have a pop trunk but seeing as how i am working on a station wagon its no exactly going to be the same!!! Now the tailgate on the station wagon opens to way from right to left like a door or like a tailgate on a truck!!!!  no what i'd like to do is have the thing pop open in the right to left manner then close on its own!!!!! Now in my mind i ave an idea about how i'd do this but im not sure if it would be the most efficient!!!  
so i'll let you know and you guys tell me if you have a revision to said plan or if you think it sounds aight!!!!

im shaving all door and putting the remote to open all doors!!

So with that said here it goes:

I'd use a heavy spring (to shut the door)

And a small either air or hydraulic cylinder(to help open it and keep it open)

hit the tail gate open and fill the cylinder to full which would allow the door to swing open and stay open till i dump the air or oil out of it which would allow the spring to slam the door shut!!!  This will take a little welding and a few little mods to the door!!!   is this the easy way to go because as i see it it would work without the spring unless i have the ass end up in the air, cause it will be on hydros!!! then the gravity would close it on its own!!! but some one tell me if there  simpler way or a way that would be so dirty!!! _Chris  

As long as its a door it will pop open!!! get a kit for the noid and remote.. when you do your doors just add another channel for that noid.. ( takes care of the poping part / opening) Now to getting it to stay open you will just need to get sum Advance rear door hydro's and just fab up a bracket.. A mini van or suv one should do just fine.. My hood ones are around $20 and they are just help in with bolts.. So you could drill a hole out and do that option too.. its a stud and the cylender just pops right on it.. On both sides.. Check one out at a junk yard and get the cylender and nut of a back door or hood.. I know Ford uses that set up.. 97 and up... Easy to do.. the shaving and placing the noid is the pain in the ass.. my back door is on a poper.. i just have the handle for emergancy.. Plus the back door is the best one to run a hiddin pull switch..Becouse you can tuck that *** in the bumper under the vec... Thats what I did..

true dat but the major thing im worried 'bout is the getting the *** to close!!!! i guess the hold up cyl's for the van doors are compressed air no?  so i could put a small hole and run a small air line with a couple valves and things cause it has no way of closing it... oh *** lol i gots it i think let me take it to the drawing borad and lets see if it works!!!  
i could weaken or completely rid myself of the spring that keeps it open thats locating on the hinge!!!! and i would be riding with the ass slightly higher any how so that will do it!!!! yeah man   so what you think lol possible?

nah im a get the little bit longer one like they have on the ford aerostar  vans on the back hack cause there pretty long and kind of fat and i can hide most of it behind the fiber glass im a be putting in the ass!!!to house the pumps and speakers and ***  

Im be suiciding the rear doors too and shaving the doors!!!! im talking to my homey about taking out the center post between the front and rear passenger doors!!! and then the pop trunk!!!! im probably gonna suicide the hood too but that won't be for a while and put a popper on that as well!!!! So im a be rolling primered for a while lol!!!! but what the hell it will still look clean lol!!!! Poor car man its gonna be going through a *** load of plastic suregery!!! _Chris

dude i just found an alternative to the air cylinder idea man!!! a linear actuator will so it better with out all the air lines and crap man!!! check out firgelliauto.com   they sell them there just electricity and thats it to power these bad boys!!!   Any ways man happy 4-20 and stay up lol!!! _CHRIS  

sounds like a plan..  I would get the part number and try E-bay too.. That way you can fab up something with a cheap  part then do it the show way with a expensive part or just send off and get it cromed..

Yeah for sure man!!!! or they might even have the exact part i want for cheaper maybe used a few times but what the hell!!! lol!!!! considering a pop gate, a pop hood and maybe a few other raising and lowering of body parts lol i may need quite a few loL!!! so the less expensive(i hate the word cheap lol)  the better!!!  and i'm hopign they aren't too complicated to take apart and put back together so i can chrome it right lol!!! or i might just painted the tail gate one to match the interior!!!! adn the hood on to chrome which ever is appropriate you know!!! _CHRIS
