gotta check a few things: * does it blow smoke? if so, how bad? * check in some spots for rust: bottom of doors, rear of front guards, floor pan and in the boot * go out for a cruise in it, check it's handling and performance to see if it feels right. if it looks good enough, snap it up baby, sound like a deal!

so i went and drove the 67 impala and it is all original and it seemed clean all around and i love it.. starting it has been a little complicated tho. for a while it would just roll but no catch...then i figured out that if i let back on the key it starts right away. is that in the wiring or the starter? also, started the wipers as a test-drive and they went on, then stopped half=way...is it the motor or the switch? or wiring? can u help??? oh, and i checked the fuses for everything and they're all okay, but the horn doesn't work as well as the air and heater... besas grandes

With so many problems i think it would be better to try and find a better one for the same price or one in the same condition but cheaper. I got my car for $1,300 on E-Bay and it sounds like the same car situation and i have put about $4,000 into it to make it run smooth but for me (working as a part-time dishwasher and High School student) that was a lot of $. So be careful with ur money, i know you said u've wanted an impala for the longest time but sometimes waitin is better. I actually almost bought the same type of car for the same price but it was 10 times worse. so waitin was definately better, i love my car.
It was funny when i first read this because with my car, when i first got it the windshield wipers and the horn werent workin but ended up working after a month or so, but hey, it was sitting for 10 years.
If the wipers stopped half way its prolly not the switch but one of the other problems and with the horn, its prolly either not wirede right or u just need a new horn.
Good Luck, Deuce-L

thank you so much for your advice. it IS a lot of money... i took what would have gone to a car payment on some new car, and saved it for an impala. i probably shoulda waited, but i fell in love. it is starting right away now after replacing the battery terminal connecters, which cost less than $20. you're right about the wipers, prolly a bigger job. i dunno, i'm just gonna have to learn how to do as much as i can on my own and hope that the big stuff doesn't happen til i can get to it haha thanks again
